Welcome
We are an 18 room family run hotel situated in a quiet private road just one minute's walk from the beach path and a 10 minute's walk from the cottages of Old Shanklin Village, and the town, train & bus stations. Shanklin enjoys record sunshine (130% of the national average) with safe bathing, and boating facilities. We share with Sandown the longest bay on the Island with beautiful sandy beaches and a clean inviting sea (Blue Flag - highest standard exceeded).
Use us as a base to explore the island, or just relax in our warm South-facing garden on a lounger, next to our crystal clear 36ft swimming pool (heated for comfort). The thatched cottages in the Old Village, the red sand cliffs and magnificent hillside views give Shanklin a distinction of its own among the many natural beauties of the 'Garden Isle'.
We are offering this budget priced holiday without cutting quality. The price we quote is the price you pay. Our aim is to make your stay with us so happy, relaxing and memorable that you will either recommend us to your friends or return again soon.
Palm Court Hotel is truly a family run hotel, with Keith and Donna doing what ever they can to help and increase the ease of you visit and to make it as stress free as possible for the teaching staff and the pupils.
We especially welcome school parties who have exclusive use of the hotel and swimming pool during their stay. All rooms are en-suite and we have plenty of room for coach parking. There is also accommodation for the coach driver who can stay at the hotel. We are happy to help arrange visits or transport needs.
We are located along a quiet, private road. Walking from the front door, you can be playing on the beautiful sandy beach in under five minutes, without having to cross any roads. Like wise, you can walk to either Sandown or the beautiful Shanklin Old Village (past Shanklin Chine), without crossing any roads.
We have been catering for school parties since 1995, and still have some of those original schools visiting us. The vast majority of our groups return to us year upon year. The hotel can accommodate approximately 58 students in multi bedded rooms (all with en-suites) and 7 to 9 teachers. The normal visit duration is 4 nights, Monday to Friday, but we are flexible for longer stays or 3 nights weekends if required. Shorter week end visits are available too. Most schools book their stay between April to mid July, so because of this we are now extending the booking season into September and October. Our schools that come at this time, tend to say it is a much better “bonding” experience, that continues though the rest of that school year. The Islands attractions still tend to be open until after the October half term break.
We have a relaxing bar area, that is used as a meeting point, so it is easy to count and keep track of the children before you depart for the days excursions. Then in the evening hot chocolate is served in the bar, before bed time, after which the staff can take time to relax a little, whilst discussing their plans for the following day. We have even had members of staff come back and take their hard earned summer holiday with us.
You will start the day off with a 3 course breakfast, then onto your daily excursion with a 5 item packed lunch, returning early evening for maybe a swim in our heated pool before your 4 course evening meal (We cater for different food allergies, religious beliefs and medical conditions). Then perhaps a walk along the beach, beach games or yet another exciting visit to another attraction. After that returning to the hotel for hot chocolate or cold drink and biscuits before going off to bed.
Thursday night is the last night, which means party night with disco and karaoke.
The Island is packed with lots of different activities, attractions and educational visits. It is also known as the "dinosaur isle", due to the large amount of fossils that are found here on the beaches. Here are just SOME of the attractions we have on the Island...
Our Health & Safety, Fire and Risk Assessments are all current and upto date.
You can book directly with us, or if you prefer, then come to us through your existing agents.
The group leaders of our existing schools are happy to provide references of the highest calibre about their Palm Court, Isle of Wight experiences.
If you think your school would be interested in staying at Palm Court, then please contact us.
